MGM Bungalow Suite

An apartment in New York City that is 300 Sq. Ft. is considered big, and costs about $300,000. But here in the West, if you want the space of a big suite without a huge price tag, head over the the MGM in Las Vegas where you can get a Bungalow Suite with 675 Sq. Ft. for under $200 a night complete with all hotel amenities like concierge and maid services. For an additional $10 resort fee you even get wireless internet and a morning newspaper.

I was pleasantly surprised with how efficient the check-in process was for the second biggest hotel in the US, breezing through the line in less than 15 minutes. The walk to the elevator was short, and the entrance to the living area was welcoming and cool compared to the 103 temperatures outside.

The cabinet in the center is hiding the television which is on a swivel platform so you can watch from the living room area or the bed. The console is big enough to effectively separate the areas without making either space seem claustrophobic. The ceilings were a bit low at about 8 feet, so even if you are Kareem Abdul Jabbar (7'2") your head should not hit the ceiling here.

To the right of the central area, there is a decent sized mini bar with a mini fridge which actually worked; I put in two coconut water drinks in the freezer compartment and they were frozen solid! The only minus here was there was no corkscrew, wine glasses or champagne glasses; they must assume everyone is drinking a mixed drink in Las Vegas.

The bathroom was large with double sinks made with Italian marble, a built in hairdryer, and a lit make up mirror.

The bathtub was a bit small (I am 5'1" and could not stretch out in it), but it had a clothesline built into the wall which was very handy for drying my bikini over the tub. The shower was in an alcove facing the toilet and it was a nice size even for a larger person. I accidentally pulled off the towel ring when I pulled the towel off, but it was easy to put it back, so either the ring was not very sturdy or I am very strong...

There were no bathrobes, slippers, or seats, all of which I missed, but for the space and the cleanliness, this was well worth the price. the average price of a night here starts at $170, but look for promotions like the one I got (see my previous post) where you can get this suite for $76, making this a truly sweet deal.
