How about taking a trip where they speak real English (instead of American)?
C & H International has fares to London for only $372 round trip from LAX if you travel between 8/18 - 10/28 2009. The fine print says that you must buy your tickets before August 31, stay over a Saturday night, and buy your tickets at least 14 days in advance. These are pretty reasonable rules considering the price is about the same as a ticket to NYC, and if you live in NYC the round trip price is only $227! You have a choice of departure cities around the US for various fares, and you can make changes for a fee, so if having tea in England appeals to you, polish your manners and make your reservation now!
